Addiction is perhaps the most important and primary problem of our time. It does not seem possible to produce solutions without revealing this problem scientifically. A complete reference book with the process of diagnosing addiction with multidisciplinary work, its psychosocial dimension and possible solution suggestions.
Prof. Dr. Halis Dokgöz, Mersin University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Forensic Medicine
The use of addictive substances, from cigarettes to heroin, from laughing gas to synthetic pills, is the most important threat to Turkey. Our country, which used to be a transit country, is now a target country. Deaths due to substance use, addiction, substance-related or substance-influenced crimes have increased, and unfortunately the age of use has decreased a lot. The use of addictive substances is a preliminary crime. Prostitution, public order, theft, injury, murder and terror crimes also exist in the environments where these substances are used. The use is encouraged both openly and through perception management in movies, music and media. Scientists have important duties in preventing the problem of substance abuse, which is the most effective asymmetric war against a country, both in terms of supply and demand. In this book, especially the young and idealistic scientists who come together to fill the gap in the field and enlighten other scientists and the public have further increased our hopes for the future.

This book offers a multidisciplinary perspective on substance addiction, which is a public health problem, in terms of general information, clinical assessment, cognitive processes, forensic medicine dimension, types of interventions and different therapies. Therefore, the book provides extensive information to professionals working in the field of substance addiction, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and forensic physicians, on the evaluation and treatment of addicted individuals, and is also a book that should be recommended to be taught in classes in the field of addiction. I strongly recommend it and congratulate everyone who contributed.

Addiction is an increasingly widespread problem. But unfortunately, information about addiction is not that widespread. Therefore, this book, which addresses addiction in all its dimensions and different aspects, is very important. Addiction is addressed in every aspect and comprehensively. The fact that its authors are new faces is also a great gain for the field of addiction.

Throughout human history, many substances have been used for medical, religious and social purposes. With the development of technology, the variety and use of substances has increased, and with the addition of rapid changes in cultural and social factors, the prevalence of substance use and addiction has become inevitable. In this book prepared by young scientists for those working in the field of substance use and addiction, a general overview of the subject of addiction, the importance of multidisciplinary work, clinical evaluations, cognitive processes, forensic toxicological analyses and applications, traffic applications, social service applications, and current therapy methods are discussed. I hope that this book, which addresses the subject with a multifaceted and human-centered perspective, will be a good resource for building a more just and peaceful society.
